Academic Statement

Dr. Tara Gray, Associate Faculty and Co-Coordinator of the MEd in School Counseling Program at Prescott College, is a Licensed Professional School Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and Registered Play Therapist with over 25 years of experience across settings, including private practice, university clinic and career centers, residential treatment, and K-12 schools.  She is a 2019 Association for Counselor Education and Supervision Emerging Leader.  Dr. Gray has been teaching and supervising in graduate counseling programs since 2010 and specializes in compassionate, ethical, evidence-based counseling across diverse populations, counselor education, clinical supervision, group counseling, child and adolescent counseling, school counseling and social justice and advocacy.  Her research article, “Sticking Together”: The Adolescent Experience of the Cohesion Process in Rural School Counseling Groups, was published in The Journal for Specialists in Group Work (Gray & Rubel, 2018).  Dr. Gray is certified as an Ethical and Legal Specialist, School Counseling Leadership Specialist, Cultural Competency Specialist, and Trauma and Crisis Specialist with the American School Counselor Association.  She currently works as an elementary school counselor, serves diverse clients in private practice, presents on group work and school counseling, and offers consultation services including grant writing and conflict mediation.
